Rescue Me (#310)

Thank god Rescue Me started up last night (among a list of other shows), because the previous week of reruns was starting to get to me. There are two universal truths in terms of what can make someone happy. The first is friends and family. The second is coming home from work and having something on the DVR. Last week I was not truly a happy person.
Rescue Me season three started with a wholely solid episode– exactly what I’ve begun to expect from the show. No other place on television does a show balance real comedy and real drama like this one. The way it manages to pull this off is by walking the viewer to the line. It’s not like The Sopranos where action and drama can escalate at the drop of a hat. Rescue Me never springs it on you. If something is going to go down, its a slow built from laughing to crying. Not to say the show is slowly paced, it’s just perfectly paced.
As far as plotlines this season, Tommy and his wife have split again and it appears this time it might get a little volatile (understatement of the week). Lou discovered that his “ex” (the one who robbed him of $30k) has appeared in porn movies. He seems to be on a consistent slide into depression and all that comes with it. The probie is about to graduate, and Tommy’s godson Damien is nailing his science teacher. Sounds like promising subject matter to me.

ok, so thanks for the link. I thought i was a die hard fan, but apparently I missed out on the short (about the beast) which was incredibly funny! Providing that link just goes to show that MMF is making the world a better place, for me, anyway.
Side notes: Two things:
1. What happended to Dean Winters? He owned his role, and is so very attractive also. That said, I can’t possibly find a reason for him to leave the show.
2. Speaking of OZ, also, did anyone notice Lee Tergesen in Rescue Me? I wonder if they will sneek in another OZ cast member. My vote is for Kirk Acevedo. You, know, keeping with the attractive, flawed, bad boy theme to casting.

Re: Mr. Winters.
He’s very much still in the show.

Wait a minute. Are we talking about the same person/character/other? Tommy’s brother, right? He had a big role in season 2 and is currently primed for much exposure (wink) in season 3.

Don’t wink at me! As if I wasn’t unstable enough with everyone calling me wanting to discuss the episode (everyone being my brother). Yeah, Tommy’s brother, in season one was played by the very attractive Dean Winters. About 8 (or so) episodes in, they switched him out for some hack. Hack meaning someone not on OZ. Apparently, he’s back, and was back for season two, so says my brother and his girlfriend. I guess I should remove my “die-hard” fan status, and exchange if for the “try-hard” not to miss half a season fan. fiddle sticks.
