“Pushing Daisies” — Corpscicle

CorpsciclePee-Wee’s other playhouse.

So we have Oscar Vibenius played with an odd subtlety by the awesome Paul Reubens as well as that creepy neighbor kid from Mad Men both having hair fetishes. In the series each character gets his dream to come true when the female lead snips off a small lock as a souvenir. All we need is one more character on one more program and I suppose it becomes a trend. C’mon, Hollywood, don’t let us down now. More after the jump…

“Pushing Daisies” — Girth

Girth

Outside of the wholly unnecessary rhyming that kicking off the episode (I can handle the series preciousness, but there is no reason for the show to push its luck), Pushing Daisies continues to be the most thoroughly enjoyable of the season’s new crop. I find myself grinning ear to ear for much of the episodes durations. “Wholly pleasant” isn’t the most glowing pull-quote for a wonderful series, but it might be the most apt. This isn’t life changing, socially significant television, but who the hell cares when the program is this fun? More after the jump…

The ‘07 Fall Season: Reassessed

Part of the problem, for me at least, is this fall seems to have more decent shows than season’s past. There are always one or two really good new programs, but typically the rest of it is just dreck. This year there have only been a small handful of shows I would consider abdominal, but with an unusually large amount resting somewhere in the middle. But how does one justify sticking with a series that is at its very best just OK. I think now would be as good a time as any to look at where we are and decide how to move forward.

“Pushing Daisies” — Pigeon

Pigeon

Of all the “case-a-week” dramas on the networks this fall featuring nerdy guys with super-powers, Pushing Daisies is the only one that can regularly hold my entire for the entire hour. Granted, that’s about the lowest praise one could heap upon a television show, but sadly it’s true. Chuck and Reaper both have their charms, but as the weeks have gone by I find myself less and less invested in what is actually happening on screen and tend to multitask. Chuck while opening my mail. Reaper while folding clothes. At least with Pushing Daisies I enjoy the actual process of watching the show. That is, after all, the whole damn point, right? More after the jump…
