MagneticMediaFed Summer Programming.
Clearly these kids are gathering for the premiere of Damages on FX, a legal drama starring Glenn Close and Ted Danson… not Art Brüt.
Now that we’re officially out of the 2006-2007 television season — with roots firmly planted in summer programming — I wanted to take this time to fill everyone in on what exactly we’re going to be covering this summer here at MagneticMediaFed. How about we do so after the jump?…
First and foremost, the posting schedule is going to be cut back a bit. There just isn’t enough going on during these next few months to necessitate content five days a week. Obviously as we get closer to the fall premieres things will pick up, but for the foreseeable weeks we can assume new posts will mostly come after the airings of some of the more high profile cable fare and as I watch whatever advance content I can pry from the networks.
More specifically, here’s what WILL be covered:
- Creature Comforts (season 1) — This could be really cool/really odd/really bad. Worth tuning in to find out. Starts Monday June 4th.
- Top Chef (season 3) — My new/only favorite reality competition. Delicious! Starts Wednesday June 6th.
- John From Cincinnati (season 1) Starts Sunday June 10th.
- The Loop (season 2) — Did anyone watch this when it aired last year on FOX? It was decently funny. I heard the second season was significantly retooled by the network. I’ll watch. Starts Sunday June 10th.
- Rescue Me (season 4) — This is under the assumption that the whole series doesn’t completely spiral out of control like most of us think it might. Starts Wednesday June 13th.
- Flight of the Concords (season 1) — The first episode is up on HBO.com. Starts Sunday June 17th.
- Meadowlands — New British drama on Showtime… sure, why not. Starts Sunday June 17th.
- Damages (season 1) Starts Tuesday July 24th.
- My Boys (season 2) — Not a great show, but it was enjoyable enough to check out again. Curious if there will be any significant changes, like the elimination of the voice over. Starts Monday July 30th.
- and more?
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Weeds, and Californication don’t start until September (boo).
The big question mark is Big Love, which returns for its second season on Monday June 11th. Big Love was OK, but had such a horrible season one finale decided that it wasn’t worth a second season (especially given the amount of times one has to gaze upon Bill Paxton’s ass). Plus, The Riches seemed to do the same thing in terms of tone, only did so much much better.
However, if enough readers are watching, I’ll certainly go along for the ride. So in this case, the choice is yours and yours alone. Was I the only one watching this show last season to begin with? There is, however, at least one good reason to watch.

As a reader of this website I demand you watch Season 2 of Big Love. You should suffer/enjoy as much as I do.

I agree. We want Big Love! And Traveler, and So You Think You Can Dance.
Thanks.

guess i’ll have to get my big brother 19 updates elsewhere. i’m intrigued by john from cincinnati. i liked deadwood. plus, i find something about “c” cities in ohio intrinsically funny (see this season of 30 rock). except john from cincinnati doesn’t really take place in ohio, right? and it might not even be a comedy. still cheering for it.
