“Flight of the Conchords” — Drive By

Aziz Ansari isn’t a very good actor. That being said, this episode was hilarious. I felt like the Conchords were going to right the ship a bit from last week shortly after the opening when Murray is handing out mail. Between Brett’s “favorite box” and the way-too-subtle fact that Murray’s mother appeared to have mailed him a sandwich, things were certainly looking good, and only got better. More after the break…
I remember hearing “Albi the Racist Dragon” on the HBO special and have since wondered how that song will be incorporated into the series. Here, it worked about as seamlessly as one can expect from a song about a racist dragon, and the animation a welcome treat. Best line: “No Albi, you didn’t kill me with your dragon flames. I crawled to safety! But you did leave me very badly disfigured — laughed the boy.” Nice.
Outside of Aziz’s anti-kiwi loud-talking, we had some [more] classic lines form Dave, who told the two why everyone hates New Zealanders, and that yes, he hates them too. This led to a wonderful clean-edit rap song about the pains of ATM fees and all the rest of the ucking shi. Ultimately everyone was introduced to the bird, and it was flipped. A lot (though after much practice).
All this being said, the episode belonged to Murray who was given his frist song “Leggy Blonde” about his crush the tech-support worker with the legs that go all the way up to her head (hey, that rhymed! I should write my own song).
If you didn’t watch the credits I’d suggest going back and checking out the guys “bird” assalt on the Australlian embassy, who everyone (actually) hates. They say, “I’m going to get my car.” We say, “I’m going to get my car.”
